This post is brought to you by my own personal cheapness and laziness.
Yep, you read that correctly. I am confessing to you right now that I am cheap and lazy. Need an explanation? You’ll have to check out the whole story in the blog post below.
Long story short, my bathroom needed a big new mirror and I needed to decide if I wanted to go frameless, or framed, or something else. I decided on the “something else.”
I originally tried to make a round frame and ended up making it too thin and it was too flimsy. So for weeks I tried to figure out what I should do. I really didn’t want to spend the money or take the time to redo it (there’s the cheap and lazy part).
So I changed things up and made my mirror also a floating shelf. You can find all the details in the blog post below.
I cut a 2×4 to use as my shelf.
Then I cut a slit in the wood where the mirror would sit.
And I screwed the board in place.
Once it was stained, I simply slid the mirror down into the slot and into place.
This is seriously such an easy project and makes such a huge impact in my bathroom!
So what do you think? You can find all the final pictures, background story and building details in the blog post below.
