6 Amazing Health Benefits of Watermelon Seeds


Watermelon is very healthy, rich in many nutrients and also is very refreshing and ideal summer fruit. However many people have the habit of getting rid of the seeds from the watermelon. There are seedless watermelons on the market, so we don’t bother with getting them out.

But, did you know there are many healthy nutrients in those seeds, which can benefit us? For example, tea made of them is recommended for kidney cleansing, fighting Escherichia coli etc.


Watermelon seeds are healthy

Watermelon is a seasonal fruit, rich in many nutrients. It contains antioxidants, magnesium, potassium, calcium, iron, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids. It also contains Vitamins A, B, and C. Watermelon rehydrates our organism, remineralizes it and has antioxidant and diuretic properties. Most of us discard seeds but they are actually good for us.

Watermelon seeds act as natural laxative

Seeds from various fruits and vegetables are natural laxatives, improving our bowel function. Some people keep the seeds and dry them, then prepare tea which is good for fighting obstipation. They even help with intestinal parasites treatment.

Watermelon seeds cleanse our system and take care of our kidneys

Watermelon seeds tea had been used for a long time as an efficient medicine for kidney cleansing and kidney stone problems. Seeds have diuretic properties and eliminate toxins.

Preparation:

Blend 4 tbsp. of fresh seeds, and then boil them for 15 minutes in 2l of water. Divide this amount and drink it for 2 consecutive days, then pause the 3rd day. Consume it for several weeks, following this schedule.

This is one of the best cures for Escherichia coli. For preparation of this tea take 30-40 fresh seeds (although dried can be used as well). Grind them and soak them into 1l of water, then boil them for 10 minutes. Drink 1l of this tea every day, for several weeks or for however it takes to cure from these bacteria. It is recommended to collect as many seeds as you can, during the summer, and then use them.

Besides drinking tea, you can also bake the seeds in your oven. Use mild temperature for 20-25 minutes; don’t burn them, because all the good nutrients will be destroyed.
