When you first become a parent, you can feel as if you’re in the best possible place ever. It’s incredible and exciting but also,
life as a mother can be tough. You will often find that you’re trying to do a million things at once, and you can get stressed and overwhelmed all at once. Sometimes, you manage okay, sometimes, you feel like you’re struggling. But the good news is, even if you are struggling, you really don’t have to live that way or stay that way forever. You’ll find that you’re able to ask for help or turn to the right resources in order to change all of that. So if you are struggling right now, here are the five life-savers that you could use.
A Cleaner
When you’re trying to take on too much, one thing that you may find that you’re doing all of the time is cleaning. Because the house always needs cleaning! And if doing this is going to stop you from spending time with family or taking care for yourself, then look for
a house cleaner. There’s no shame in hiring someone if it’s going to make you saner.
A Babysitter
Another thing that you may feel guilty about, is being able to take care of the kids 24/7. Maybe you work? Or you want to have a date night? Again, there’s no shame in this. At all. It’s okay to find a sitter to give you that bit of space back for an hour or so each week. If it’s going to stop you from struggling, go for it.
An Extra Hand
It might just be that you need some help. So ask for it. Maybe you need your husband to step up. Or you want to ask your parents for help. It could even be that you are caring for your parents and you need
in-home care to help you out? Then ask. It’s okay to say that you need an extra hand and that someone can help you out, especially if it’s going to help you.
A Home Organization System
Next up, something that might then also help you to stay sane, is to get a lot more organized around the home. Maybe you need to have a cleaning system and a list of chores for the kids? It could be that you need to really make sure that you cut out unnecessary tasks, that you’re ruthless, and then you delegate what you need to, to make this manageable.
A Break
Finally, it might just be that you need a break. Because if you’re cooking and your cleaning and your driving the kids around and you’re looking after your parents and helping with homework, something's gotta give! This just will not last forever. So you need to take some time out for yourself. You need to slow down, take a bath, read a book, go for a run, go for dinner - anything. But you need to have that break if you are struggling. Because then you will go back to parenthood refreshed ad with a new-found fire in your stomach!
